Tarik Brown started this scholarship as an undergraduate student at the University of Notre Dame. This scholarship was mainly inspired by his own experience as a first-generation low-income student pursing a STEM degree at Notre Dame. STEM Majors tend to be among the most expensive due to the costs of various things like textbooks and lab equipment. No student should have to stress out about their ability to afford educational materials and this scholarship is a commitment to removing these barriers that limit students from underserved communities from pursuing a STEM Education.
